What Are Consultations For?

My consultations are designed to help you understand and use your DNA results effectively.

Understanding Your Matches

Learn how to interpret match lists, understand centimorgans (cMs), and figure out how you're likely related to your DNA matches.

Analyzing Ethnicity Estimates

Understand what your ethnicity breakdown actually means, why results vary between companies, and how to interpret the data meaningfully.

Breaking Through Brick Walls

Use DNA evidence strategically to solve mysteries, confirm relationships, and make progress where traditional research has stalled.

Research Direction

Get clear guidance on where to focus your research next, which tools to use, and how to approach your specific genealogy goals.

A Note on Expectations

DNA analysis is about discovery, guidance, and education - not guarantees. Every case is unique, and results depend on the matches and data available in your test results.

I provide expert analysis, clear explanations, and informed direction for your research. I help you understand what your results can tell you and guide you toward productive next steps. However, I cannot promise specific outcomes or guarantee we'll solve every mystery in a single session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have access to your DNA testing account(s) ready - AncestryDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, or whichever platforms you've tested with. If possible, have your family tree accessible too. Most importantly, complete the intake form I send after booking so I can prepare for our session.
Absolutely! A consultation can be helpful to discuss which DNA test might be best for your research goals. However, most of the value of a session comes from reviewing actual results, so you might consider a 30-minute session for test selection advice, then book again after your results arrive.
Life happens! You can reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours notice at no charge. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a fee or forfeiture. Please reach out via email if you need to make changes.
Consultations are educational sessions where I teach you how to understand and use your DNA results. I guide you through analysis during our call, but I don't perform research on your behalf outside of the session. My goal is to empower you with knowledge and strategies to continue your research independently.
It depends on your goals and the complexity of your case. Many people find that a single 60-minute session gives them the understanding and direction they need. Others return periodically as new matches appear or as they have new questions. There's no ongoing commitment required.
Yes! I have particular expertise in Jewish genealogy and genetic genealogy. I also work with clients from all backgrounds who want to understand their DNA results, identify unknown relatives, or break through brick walls in their research.
